Burney Demographics
Economic Profile: Burney is a full service town that serves the communities of Johnson Park, Cassel, Hat Creek, Old Station and other outlaying areas. These communities have a year round population of   4536.  . During the summer months, the population increases to about 7,500 due to summer residents and visitors. Young families and retirees constitute a significant portion of the population. Services include banking, insurance, groceries, restaurants, auto repair, and other shopping. Burney is un-incorporated; Shasta County provides law enforcement and maintains a community sheriffs sub-station. We have local fire and water districts. Cal Trans has a service facility in town. Hunters, campers, fisherman, and other recreational visitors are a significant source of revenue for the business community. Housing is available in all price ranges, and there are several sub-divisions as well as individual building sites for those who wish to build.

Preschools & Daycare:
 The  Intermountain Community Center’s Programs for Children,   Intermountain Community Center 37477 Main Street Burney, CA 96013 (530) 335 4600 Preschool is fiom 8:30 am to 11 :30 am; daycare continues to 6 pm, and is for potty trained through kindergarteners. Daycare is for ages 2.5, and potty trained, to 12. Generally follows school district calendar. Summer care is extended fiom 7:30 am to 6 pm. Fees are monthly; daycare hourly.

There are 28 full time teachers along with 25 other staff members such as librarians, aids, yard duties, and secretaries. Special programs are available to all students along with two fully equipped computer labs. BHS was awarded the Western Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation in 1996.
