Directions: From the South, Take Hwy 5 to the Hwy 299 exit just North of Redding, turn East and drive 51 miles to town, From the North, take the Hwy 89 South exit at Dunsmuir go 60 miles to Hwy 299, go west 5 miles to Burney.

Hat Creek Wild Trout Stream
From Baum Lake dam, downstream to Lake Britton, excluding the Hat #2 concrete canal, a wild trout area with Special Regulations. 18 inch MINIMUM SIZE, each fish. TWO FISH LIMIT. Artificial lures and flies with barbless hooks only, are allowed. Considered to be a classic trout stream.
Directions: Follow Hwy 299 East from Burney to either Powerhouse 2 Road or Hat Creek Park.

Pit River Wild Trout Section
Pit River – below Lake Britton. Pit #3 dam to Pit #3 Powerhouse, Wild Trout area. Heavy flow, free-stone stream. CAUTION WHEN WADING. Special regulations, 2-fish limit, 18 inch MINIMUM SIZE, artificial lures and flies only, with barbless hooks. Pit River is now open year-round from the Dam at Lake Britton, downstream to Shasta Lake. Special regulations from November 15, to the last Saturday in April are: Artificials only, barbless hooks, ZERO KILL.
Directions: Take Hwy 299 east from Burney 5 miles to Hwy 89. Go 4 miles north on Hwy 89 to Clark Creek Rd. Go left on Clark Creek Road to Pit Three Dam Road.

Lake Britton
Excellent recreation lake with 3 camping facilities adjacent to the lake. Many species of fish are available; large-mouth bass, small-mouth bass, black crappie, white crappie, blue gill, trout, catfish and carp. Please check your regulation book regarding size restrictions and limits on the different species.
Directions: From Burney, go 5 miles east on Hwy 299 to Hwy 89, then north 6 miles on Hwy 89 to park.

Baum Lake
Located near Crystal Lake Fish Hatchery, Baum Lake is a well-stocked, hydroelectric impoundment. The lake has rainbow, brown and brook trout. It is accessible from Cassel Road. Baum can be fished from shore, floating devices or boats – though no gas motors are allowed. Electric motors are okay. Baum does not have any special regulations, so any method may be used. This lake has some very large fish, usually taken in the winter months. Fish to 10 pounds are not uncommon, with the lake record being a 23 pound, 5 oz. brown trout. 5-fish limit.
Directions: Hwy 299 east from Burney to the Cassel road turnoff, Go five miles to Crystal Lake Hatchery turnoff.

Cassel
A well-stocked stretch of Hat Creek, all methods of fishing are allowed. Fly fishing is excellent. P.G.&E. campground available. 5-fish limit.
Directions: East on Hwy 299 6 miles east of Burney to the Cassel turn off. Go 5 miles to the bridge in town.
